Claims Help

Filing a claim? We’re here for you.

A claim is the moment your insurance matters most — and you don’t have to navigate it alone. Here’s what to do after a loss, and how to reach us and your carrier fast.

After a loss

What to do, step by step

1

Get safe first

Make sure everyone is safe and out of harm’s way. Call 911 for injuries, fire, or anything dangerous. Your safety comes before any paperwork.

2

Document everything

Take photos and video of the damage before you move or repair anything. Note dates, times, and what happened while it’s fresh. Keep receipts for any emergency repairs.

3

Prevent further damage

Make reasonable temporary repairs to stop the loss from getting worse — like tarping a roof or shutting off water. Don’t make permanent repairs until the adjuster has seen it.

4

Report the claim

File with your carrier using the claims line on our Carriers page, or call us and we’ll help you start it and walk you through what to expect.

Not sure whether to file? Call us first at 830-387-4032. We’ll help you weigh whether a claim makes sense, what it might mean for your policy, and how to get the best outcome — that’s the advantage of having a real local agent in your corner.

Claims questions, answered

Should I call you or my carrier to file a claim?

Either works. You can file directly with your carrier’s 24/7 claims line (listed on our Carriers page) for the fastest start, or call us and we’ll help you open the claim and guide you through it. For a serious loss, we recommend looping us in.

Will filing a claim raise my rates?

It depends on the claim type, fault, and your history. Not every claim affects your premium, and sometimes the right move is to pay a small loss out of pocket. We’re happy to talk it through before you file so you can make an informed decision.

What information do I need to file?

Your policy number, the date and a description of what happened, photos of the damage, and a police or fire report if one applies. Having those ready makes the process much faster.

What is the Texas appraisal provision?

For property policies issued or renewed after January 1, 2026, Texas requires an appraisal provision — a formal way to resolve disputes if you and the carrier disagree on how much a covered loss is worth. We’ll help you understand and use it if needed.

A claim is when it counts. We’ve got you.
